About Bec

I’m Bec a 50-something adopted Mancunian.
I’m a gardener, a hill walker, an outdoor enthusiast, and a bit of a geek.
I have osteo-arthritis but yoga, mindfulness, and crafting help my wellbeing. I’m part of Cottonopolis WI in Ancoats, Manchester. I love cooking, music, getting into the city as well out on the hills.

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a reminder of the

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a reminder of the importance of prioritising our mental wellbeing - especially workplace mental health. I've found supporting my mental health by taking daily walks in the neighbourhood every lunchtime (as long as it’s not raining!).

During these walks, I enjoy noticing the different plants and flowers, paying attention to the changing seasons, and being present in the moment. It's a great way to clear my head and recharge.

Here’s some Virginia creeper which has changed from green to red. Also, a gatehouse by the canal at the end of my street.

Remember, mental wellbeing isn't just about one day a year; it's about making it a priority every day. Let's continue to support each other.

We need more funding and NHS support for people... waiting lists are too long.

DAY 24: SILVER I really need to get my #silverclay

DAY 24: SILVER I really need to get my #silverclayjewellery gear out and make some pretty jewellery. It has been far too long. I'm not doing much crafting at the moment for various dull reasons.

Crafting helps my mental health and wellbeing. I made these earrings 3 years ago.

DAY 2 GOLD lettering - after a long break I've pic

DAY 2 GOLD lettering - after a long break I've picked up my embroidery hoop... and aiming to finish the hoop soon. Being creative really helps my metal health and #mindfulsewing and #mindfulmaking - it helps me stay in the moment.

DAY 1 MORNING LIGHT It's been boiling hot in Eccle

DAY 1 MORNING LIGHT It's been boiling hot in Eccles all week.
This is Potentilla 'Abbotswood' it was one of a couple of plants in the garden when I moved in nearly 15 years ago. It's going strong. I was out watering the plants this morning and noticed the light...I find watering plants relaxing, noticing what's glowing and flowering.
I like the heat as it helps my arthritis pain.
